Responsible for:

The role of the Capital Development Directorate is to support strategic capital investment in the region to ensure that the Agency and its partners make a significant impact on the physical development of the North East.

Our objective is to invest in those initiatives that can maximise economic benefit and encourage private investment to play a key role in regeneration initiatives.

Our priorities:

• We are currently reviewing our priorities in the context of:
• The new Regional Strategy, currently being prepared
• Indicative budget allocations for the next two years
• The commitments we have already made to key programmes
• The economic downturn and the need to respond to changing market conditions.

We aim to work alongside our major partners – the development industry, local authorities, the Homes and Community Agency and other public sector bodies – to ensure that our efforts are coordinated and focused on agreed priority investments.

We welcome a continuing dialogue with our partners to ensure we shape our agenda to fit the Region’s ambitions and that our plans can adapt to changing circumstances.
