What type of funding does it offer?
Investment by the fund may be up to 50% of the total funding requirement, with the balance being any other form of finance (including all forms of equity and debt).

The amounts the fund can invest, range from £40k to £500k. The Fund operates as co-investment fund.
In which area is the fund available?
The Fund will invest in former coalfield areas. To be considered you need to be either located in an eligible coalfield ward or employ people who live in an eligible coalfield ward. Further details of eligible areas are available on the Funds website.
Who can apply?
The fund is able to invest in most sectors although will not be able to provide funding to businesses in sectors excluded under state aid rules (e.g. car industries, shipping, textiles) The Coalfield Enterprise Fund is designed to fill the gap in the provision of risk capital for start-up and developing small and medium businesses in the former coalfield areas.
